Ivan Krupenikov is a graduate of Warsaw Film School, who developed his voice through music videos, commercials, and short films. His shorts Winter Bloom and Metallic Taste have screened at major festivals including Gdynia, Camerimage, and Oscar-qualifying ones such as Rhode Island, Izmir, and Durban. In 2025, his film Food Chain — created for the 48 Hour Film Project — won Best Film at Filmapalooza and screened at the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner. Ivan’s work explores themes of desensitization to violence, the coexistence of war and comfort in privileged societies, and the overlap between ecological collapse and displacement — often expressed through genre storytelling, atmosphere, and strong visual language. His influences include Michael Haneke, David Cronenberg, Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Jonathan Glazer, and Lynne Ramsay. As a first assistant director, Ivan has worked on campaigns for brands like Żabka and Netflix. As an editor, he has collaborated with Allegro, Sony Music Poland, and Sydoria, and works with Polish distributors to create promotional materials for both festival hits and classic retrospectives — including the trailer for the Oscar-nominated short The Dress. He also curates Pogovorymo, a cinema discussion club at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, where part of the ticket proceeds supports Ukrainian volunteer organizations. Outside of film, Ivan is passionate about analogue photography.
